Buddy’s Story

Cecy Gallegos from California shared her experience where her Chihuahua-Maltese mix, Buddy, seemed to detect her breast cancer before she was officially diagnosed in November 2022. Despite initial mammograms showing only dense tissue, Buddy's unusual behavior, like sadness and frequent sniffing of her breast, led Gallegos to persist with further tests. These eventually confirmed her cancer, which had already spread to her lymph nodes.

Gallegos underwent surgery and chemotherapy, and while she's now in remission, she continues to be monitored due to some concerning areas found in subsequent scans. Her story, shared on TikTok, resonates with others who have observed similar behaviors in their pets, suggesting that dogs might have the ability to sense diseases like cancer.
